Ellie Biscuit 20 &10-Mile Trail Trot
Prior to January 2021, there were exactly ZERO trail runs of 10 miles or greater in the 30A area. That said, you could say that the Ellie Biscuit was born out of necessity! And truth be told, like many other great ideas over the ages, it was also born out of a conversation over beers. We're certainly glad it was born, because it just keeps getting better year after year!
The Ellie Biscuit takes place on the first('ish) Saturday of January and starts/finishes at the Pt. Washington State Forest Eastern Lake Trail Head off of CR-395S. The course encompasses portions of both trail and forest road within the state forest. The Ellie Biscuit can be run as a solo effort or as a team with your favorite running buddy. The courses themselves are on the Pt Washington State Forest trail system. For those unfamiliar with the Pt Washington State Forest…to be sure, it’s Florida forest at its absolute finest! A truly beautiful course. The 10-miler will consist of a single loop of the 10-mile course, with the 20-miler consisting of two laps of the 10-mile loop. The Ellie Biscuit also now offers a 2-person relay option, with each person completing a 10-mile loop. Check out the course maps at the bottom of the page.
What do you get for your money? While billed as a "no frills" kind of race, runners actually get quite a lot for their money. A beautiful and well-supported course for starters. All registered runners will also receive the official Ellie Biscuit race hoodie. And chili...what's better after running 10 or 20 miles than a bowl or three of homemade chili!!! There will be awards given to the men’s and women’s solo winner and runner up from each course, as well as to the winner and runner up from men's, women's, and mixed categories from the 20-mile relay. And all registered runners who successfully complete their race will receive an always cool finisher’s award.
I should probably note that this is a trail run, with all of the goodness that typically comes along with trail runs, i.e. rocks, roots, stumps, and large mud puddles. And sand, lots of sand. Please dress accordingly and definitely don’t expect clean shoes at the finish line!
